One-Fare Transit Program: It’s Getting Done
Friend,
Have you taken public transit lately?
Whether you’ve been commuting to work or have gone on a summer excursion across the city, you may have noticed some changes over the past few months when tapping your Presto card.
Beginning earlier this year, the calculations for transit fares were changed. Daily commutes are now cheaper. Transit riders in the GTA are seeing more money go back into their wallets.
That’s because Ontario’s One Fare transit program is now active, allowing commuters to transfer between transit agencies without having to pay multiple fares.
This means travel between MiWay, TTC, Go Transit, and many other transit organizations now only costs a single fare.
For example, when you use a PRESTO card or a credit or debit card, you can take a MiWay bus to the train station, ride GO Transit to Toronto, and take the TTC to your final destination — all for just the cost of the GO Transit ticket.
The best part? The One Fare program is saving transit riders an average of $1600 per year.
Now, all Ontarians can enjoy the convenience and accessibility of cheaper high-quality public transit. Ontarians asked and we delivered.
A one-fare transit program. It’s getting done.
Sincerely,
