Economy and Affordability
Putting Money Back in Your Pockets
Sheref Sabawy and Doug Ford are working hard to make life easier and more affordable for you and your family. We are getting it done by putting more money in your pockets.

That’s why the PC government temporarily lowered gas taxes and removed license plate sticker renewal fees. For the same reason, tolls were removed from Highways 412 and 418 and we signed a deal for $10/day childcare. And we abolished the costly and inefficient carbon tax to save you money.
We created the Staycation Tax Credit to save you money while supporting the tourism sector. For students, we decreased and froze post-secondary tuition until the 2022-23 school year. To help seniors stay in their own home longer, we created the Seniors Home Safety Tax Credit and the Seniors Care at Home Tax Credit.
We increased the minimum wage to $15/hr, and ensured it will increase again in October to $15.50/hr. And the Ontario PCs have proposed expanding the Low-Income Tax Credit, providing $300 in additional tax relief, on average, to 1.1 million workers.
When times were tough across the province, we froze rent increases on both rent-controlled and non-rent-controlled residential properties. And we are increasing the land speculation tax to ensure housing remains affordable for all.
Sheref Sabawy and the Ontario PCs are fully committed to ensuring life becomes easier and more affordable for you and your family.
Opening Ontario Up for Business
The Ontario PCs are the only party with a proven plan to open up our province for economic prosperity and growth. They will attract investments, create jobs, and strengthen Ontario into the economic heart of Canada.

The PC government has been strengthening the auto-sector with investments in Ontario-made electric vehicles, and battery manufacturing. We are also attracting clean environmentally-friendly steelmaking right here in Ontario.
We are making it easier for skilled professionals to come to Ontario, such as by removing the Canadian Experience requirements from many professions.
The Ontario PCs also supporting workers find good quality and well-paying jobs. We created Better Jobs Ontario to connect unemployed individuals with stable work. Additionally, we supported workers in the skilled trades, creating Skilled Trades Ontario, a new Crown agency, to improve trades training and simplify services.
